What is a screw?

What is a screw?

A screw fundamentally consists of winding a thread profile called a screw thread around a cylindrical shaft along a helical curve. The helical curve is the curve formed on the cylinder as the hypotenuse of a right triangle, whose long perpendicular edge equals the base circumference of the cylinder, wraps around it.

Screws are standardized according to ISO (International Organization for Standardization) and DIN (German Institute for Standardization) norms. TSE (Turkish Standards Institution) has also standardized screws in TS 61 based on DIN and ISO.

They are classified into 8 categories based on the method of application of the forces acting upon them;
•   Metric Screws
•   Sheet Metal Screws
•   Plastic Screws
•   Chipboard Screws
•   Wood Screws
•   Self-Drilling Screws
•   Special Screws
•   Set Screws and Rivets

WHAT MATERIALS ARE THEY MADE FROM?

A wide variety of wire raw materials are used for screw production. The most commonly used ones are SAE1006 – CQ15–20MnB4. We manufacture from different types of raw materials based on customer-specific requests.

WHERE ARE THEY USED?

They are used in many branches of industry such as cars, airplanes, ships, in furniture, and all engineering sectors. In short, screws are the lifeblood of technology that makes life and vital tasks easier.
•   In the Electrical / Electronic and Lighting Sector (switches, buttons, contacts, spotlights, circuit breakers, commutators, sockets, etc.);
•   In the Automotive Sector (brakes, brake pads, clutches, shock absorbers, wipers, hand brakes, mirrors, seat belts, locks, etc.);
•   In the Durable Consumer Goods and White Goods Sector (hinges, buttons, spark plugs, lids, hoses, clamps, etc.);
•   In the Door / Window Sector (locks, hinges, handles, buttons, etc.)
